Union Syndicale Luxembourg is organising a presentation on the role and powers of local authorities in the Grand Duchy on Monday 20 March at 12.30 p.m.. It will take place at the Foyer européen, in Salle Schuman: 10 rue Heine, L-1720 Luxembourg.
The purpose of the presentation is to explain how local authority administrations work in the Grand Duchy, as well as their powers in the field of housing, social policy, well-being, etc.
It is also intended to encourage foreigners to take an interest in what is going on in the local authority area where they live.
The following information will be discussed in the presentation:
- in the 2011 elections, only 17% of residents from other countries voted (according to a study by CEFIS in April 2015);
- the deadline to put your name on the register of voters is 14 July 2017 (under the electoral law of 11 February 2011);
- voters must be 18 years of age, and have been resident for at least 5 years on 8 October 2017 (ibidem).
I invite you to attend this presentation and ask you to pass on the information to people you know.
